After years of watching A Christmas Carol, I never before realized how much we have become a society of Scrooge. We all spend our lives endlessly striving for better jobs, bigger houses, and nicer toys, all so we can live the fantasy life that we all imagine (just like Scrooge). We are so obsessed with wealth and obtaining more stuff that we have basically become blind to everything (and everyone) else in the world that does not serve that purpose...
Not only did this amazing event bring some #HolidayCheer to some isolated members of the community but it gave the opportunity for some young people to connect and understand people who are facing troubles with mental health.

The world sucks and so do we It’s easy to look at the world and think the whole place is going to hell in a handbag. Bombs are being dropped in Syria and Iraq killing thousands, both civilian and military alike. Millions of people are fleeing war-torn countries in search of new, safer lives but are instead finding only hate, prejudice and xenophobe. Russia is hacking the US, China is battling their neighbours for land, and President-Elect Trump (which is still hard...
The energy of the staff and volunteers was electric. They were all so passionate about helping those less fortunate and you could see the gratitude on everyone’s face that came through.
Although it’s sad to see so many people living without, it’s uplifting to know that an organization like the Gospel Mission is there to help.

CRIS (Community Recreational Initiatives Society) overcomes barriers by allowing disabled individuals to get out and enjoy the outdoors with hikes, bikes, rock climbing, and kayaking.
The smiles they put on their participants faces and the positive value they get out of being able to do something adventurous outdoors is absolutely amazing.
